If you want to make one of your first cable knitting projects, this is a great place to start. You'll encounter all sorts of cables as you continue knitting, but the six stitch twist seen in this pattern is one of the easiest to learn.
With this project you'll see just how simple a cable knitting pattern really is. The twist is created by a single round in which stitches are worked out of order. The other rows are basic knits and purls! You'll also learn how to decrease within a cable, a common crown decrease technique used for cable knit hats.
